ABOUT

Lucy Xiao Li (China, 2001), studies at Emily Carr University of Art and Design as an Illustration student. She mostly focuses on digital drawing, loves to use bright colors and cartoon style to show her ideas. She also makes small sculptures with clay, wire and other materials. Lucy often discusses serious topics such as mental health, feminism, and social realities in her works. Using a humorous way to expose those pain, contradictions and inequalities in life. However, she is not a pessimist. She wishes her works can make the audience rethink about these problems and give them a little bit strength to make small changes. Many people will realize the existence of issues, but most of them stay silent. A part of them need to stand up and speak loud. She hopes she will be one of them. Life is just like that. In the midst of endless despair, there is always the occasional flicker of hope in the darkness. As an artist, she wanted to capture these tiny flickers and leave something inside audience’s mind.
